Viktor Anatolyevich Garnaga

  • January 30, 1987;
  • 21st Separate Mechanized Brigade(А4689);
  • Soldier;
  • He was captured in the Kursk region.

In Starichi there was a group… Americans or whoever they were… there were up to 10

people, but they underwent training separately from us, because of the language barrier.

Were they teaching or learning?

Learning.

In what capacity?

As mortar operators.

So, they took courses, that is an English-speaking group…

They were trained with an interpreter. The instructors were ours.

Disassembly, assembly of the mortar.

Aiming mortar. Bussol.

We were released. It’s a month of training.

I haven’t seen them since.

How long can Ukraine keep up this pace of military operations?

I think this is already the end.

Judging by the fact that even now, being in jail, I see that those

who are captured are, you might say, old men 56-57 years old.

Well, what kind of soldier is one at 60 years old. He needs

a nurse nearby to constantly check his blood pressure.

Four more people younger, to carry him.

and not so that he still has somewhere to run to, something to do.

What can you do?

In any case, a vicious circle. Well, you hid. It’s still necessary to go to

work, somehow feed the family, pay for utilities. You need to come out of hiding.

If you came out, then you were caught, sent.

If you ran away, then caught, sent back.

I myself went AWOL. I didn’t make it home. They brought me back and that’s it.
