– Did you have a chance to avoid mobilization?

– For some money there. Because how do we fight? They only take the middle and lower class to the military recruitment office. High-class people… well, I have not met such and haven’t heard that they were mobilized or anything. At the military recruitment office, a deferment from service was offered for $10,000.

I saw when I arrived with the third assault company, where they later took me.

“Sumerki” [“Twilight”]. He was recruiting people for his company. Just talked with us… he introduced himself, that he is “Sumerki”, his call sign… That he is the company commander.

They took us to the positions. We had a task to dig in and observe. Upon arriving at the position, commander “Sumerki” gave instructions on what to do about the prisoners.

There was such an order: not to take prisoners, to kill immediately. Keep Russian soldiers in sight, let them approach within 20-30 meters and shoot them.

One of the groups captured two Russian soldiers, reported it on the radio. “Sumerki” responded to them that they needed to “zero” them. They refused, he told them that if they didn’t “zero” them, he would come himself and “zero” them.
